Plot :
No one is certain how long Lapushka has been inhabited by wolves, no one cared to take note of the fact. It has always been, and it will always be.
Lapushka is a medium-sized island, no one is entirely certain where it is located. The wolves believe they came to the island by swimming, some believe they evolved here like wolves in the America's. Who can be certain?
No, the true history of Lapushka begins 20 years ago...
It was a time of peace, the wolves were happy with their lives and the two packs were joined as one. They were led by a strong wolf, Fort, and his loving mate Wood. They kept order in the pack, and were kind. However, Wood began to slowly gain weight, and the pack knew she was pregnant. A stirr arose, for this was her first litter. 'At last!' the pack thought, 'She will have a heir!' And she did, indeed. But the litter didn't happen as planned. The first pup.. a girl! The next... another girl? Out continued the girls, 3... 4... now 5! Fort kept getting word from the den and was getting frightened that his heir would never come. Again, a nose pressed out--- but... Two noses?!
It wasnt a deformed pup, oh no. Pup seven and eight were males, and they were fighting to get out first. The thrashing of their bodies was ripping Wood apart, and her blood spilled continually to the ground. Finally she called for help, and two lower female wolves rushed in. The pulled the two males out, at the same time, just as Wood let out her final breath. The pups were to be named Mort and Tuez, it was the begining of a long, harsh life for them.
Mort and Tuez grew, knowing it was their fault their mother died. Fort never truly forgave them, and his coldness to his sons didn't go unnoticed. However, the fact his body began to slow and his fur began to lighten didn't either. They knew soon Fort would pass, and he had to chose which of his sons to give his throne to. For days, Fort stayed in his den- trying to decide. The sons fought bitterly over who would get their fathers compassion.
Finally, Fort raised his head and howled to his pack. They gathered quickly, waiting for their fathers words.
"My pack..." Fort began, "... I simply can not choose between my two sons." He looked around his pack, none looked surprise, "Instead... I will split these lands." He notioned towards the mountained, "Those will become the Lune Lands. Mort, you will control there." He notioned towards the water, "That will become the Soleil lands. Tuez, you will control them." He looked again at his pack, "You all will be split once I pass away. Choose which of my sons you will go with. Families, split if you must." He rose and stepped back into his den, "You have 10 days, by then- I will perish."
And so the lands were split.
All remained calm for 5 years, until a sickness began spreading through the deer and elk. The wolves thought nothing of it, for they die off commonly. And after a summer, everything was normal once more. It was better than normal, infact. The deers nearly doubled in population, and the land was rich with life.
The packs saw the biggest pup boom than ever, and the numbers near quadrupled.
As the "pup boom" pups began to reach sexual maturity, however, something went horridly wrong. An illness swept through the lands, killing wolves by the dozens. Those that didn't die instantly sometimes killed their sons, mates, fathers...
The madness continued, through the Lune lands, through the Soleil lands. Both were hit hard.
Only two survived in the Lune lands... and one in Soleil.
History was trying to rewrite itself.
