The silence mocked her. How Kiya had stumbled upon this forest was beyond her, but she couldn’t seem to discover an exit. Darkness clung heavily, blinding her vision slightly as the female pressed on; trotting deeper into the shadows. The obscurity made it difficult for her to race across the terrain, but there was no need to escape the lands so quickly. After all, she had yet to catch the scent of a pack. Perhaps none had claimed this part of the island? Her slender legs continued to pump, though hardly pushing the limits of her speed. She could manage to boost herself rapidly, though at the moment it wasn’t coming in use. Just forcing her in farther. Finally she let herself rest, coming to an abrupt halt. The trees tilted overhead and set a diming overcast. Various tree roots lay across the land, mounds of dirt scattered around also. The earth would unexpectedly fall downhill a few places nearby and she was aware that the land was definitely far from even. Which caused a major disability for her speed.
Resting back on her hind legs, her charcoal eyes probed the area. Everything was mute for a moment, and the quiet was filled with an uneasy tension that Kiya found hard to shake off. She continued to glimpse around, scoping the area for anything abnormal. Her head was slanted upwards, nose pointed in the air inspecting the winds carrying scents. With the way the wind hit though, she could only manage to pinpoint things to her left side. It was unfeasible to know whether or not wolves were around. A twig sounded somewhere close by though, and she was swiftly on all fours, a growl ripping from her throat. It didn’t take long for her to realize her mistake however as the small bunny dashed from the barely standing bush. Shaking her head she glanced around before inclining back to her resting position. Her eyes closed over, and she tried to inhale heavy breathes and soothe the paranoia clawing at her mind.
